Oh, child. We're NOT supposed to be cheering for the abuser. Le sigh.

Considering the fact that I am trying to build my writing career on deconstructing abusive relationships in my fiction, I probably shouldn't admit that the new PSA she's in made me giggle, but it did.

I'm sorry, it was a stupid script and the tension between the hyper-realism and surrealism in the filmmaking style is just reductive of the issue... Not to mention the fact that, the way it's shot, I feel as though we're made to cheer for the abuser. Joe Wright, those close-ups are NOT helping, and the cuts are ill-timed. (Which isn't to mention the fact that her acting makes it seem as if she isn't actually getting hurt, which, unfortunately, is the LEAST of this PSA's problems.)

The PSA under the cut.

A Victory for Our Side!

Apparently, the new Hollywood version of King Lear has been scrapped.

Someone in one of my locked comms is alleging that Superagent Ari Emanuel refused to work with Horseface.

Does anyone else know if this is true?

(If it is, that would make all three of the Emanuel brothers THAT MUCH HOTTER...)

Another Good Review

...And by "good" I of course mean "the reviewer thinks K. sucks and is woefully miscast in the role"

The Houston Press's review of the Duchess: "a case of marquee casting if ever there was one."

Also, some even better news. Hopefully, K.'s reign of terror is coming to an end sooner than we think.

Perfect Role For Shiteley

Now, I'm not one to advocate that Shiteley take a part, but I think we've found the perfect role for The Jaw (partly because their jaws are shaped the same... and partly because of these gaffes):

I don't want to step on anyone's politics here (in the event that we've got Republicans in this community), but I think everyone has to agree that Palin's established herself as "all smiles, no substance" in the U.S. public forum lately.

(Also, yes, I do believe that Tina Fey would better capture the mannerisms and accent, but I think that, based on Palin's greatest hits, we gotta give it to KK.)

Can The Studios Just STOP It Already?

I am soooooooooooooo sick of this.

The bitch is in negotiations to play Zelda Fitzgerald

Enough. This phase the media is going through is now officially worse than the phase it went through in the '90s when Winona Ryder was in everything. WORSE.

I didn't think it could get worse than that, but it did. It soooooooooo did.

Some great K.- and E. - Bashing

To somewhat soothe the pain of the news that K. has been cast as Eliza in a modernized remake of My Fair Lady, I come bearing aloe plants, in the form of  reviews for The Duchess as well as some much-needed and well-deserved E(lizabeth Swann) bashing.

The Telegraph
Because whether she's bending it like Beckham, skirmishing with Mr Darcy, or swinging from the rigging alongside pirates in the Caribbean, Keira Knightley fails utterly to convince.

2 1/2 Stars from the Times Online
Who is Keira kidding? Only herself.

The Telegraph again
It's hard to listen to what she's saying when all you want to do is feed her chips. She's miscast in the first place....

Financial Times
Keira Knightley... as in Atonement, fails to suggest any development, change or depth.

You'll find yourself less fixated on inner turmoil than whether you could feasibly slip a cocktail sausage between her perma-pouting lips.

This article on Hollywood's 5 Saddest Attempts at Feminism is definitely an it-getter with regards to how Lizzy-Sue's character "develops" throughout the films. Granted, the article is erroneous in places -- it's written by a casual fan on Cracked, so no suprise there --  (Jack "in love" with E.? You'd think that over there, they'd at least realize his true intentions for her. No Anamaria mention? Then again, I don't know why I'd expect it, since she was forgotten by her own creators.) it still manages to call out the Two Turds ideal of what a heroine should be.

Also, a bonus article on Romola: "I'm very lucky to have the career I've had"

Outrage on the Boards

Thought I'd link it in my state of procrastination.

(Even her fans say thumbs-down to Shiteley's Eliza)

Does anyone else think that even Robert Pattinson would make a better Eliza Doolittle than The Jaw would? Just kidding. (Or am I?)

Random Howl and Humble Request

Because I have writer's block with regard to an academic research proposal that I am meant to be writing, I am here to post a random...

...with regard to the latest additions to Ms. Shiteley's filmography. (Is there no work of English literature that is safe?)

Also, if anyone is inclined to spend some time with photoshop or any other photomanipulation program, I'd like to request more horseface icons. My current horseface icon has one of her outdated haircuts on it.

Someone please tell me it's a dream and that Horseface isn't really being considered for the role of Eliza Doolittle:
